ICYMI: Eight Current and Former State’s Attorneys Endorse Gansler for Governor

WBAL’s coverage noted that Anne Arundel State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess and Talbot County State’s Attorney Scott Patterson “say they believe Gansler will help make Maryland safe.”

Maryland Matters reported this week that, “Talbot County State’s Attorney Scott G. Patterson (D) is backing former Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler (D) to be Maryland’s next governor based on his concern for public safety.

“Earlier this year Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess (D) endorsed Gansler, as did former states’ attorneys from Somerset, Worcester, Dorchester, Cecil, Charles and Howard counties.

“Patterson said Thursday that he sees Gansler as someone who believes that ‘we have too many people in jail, and I know that he believes that the people that should be in prison and jail are the ones that are violent offenders that make it unsafe for the citizens to live their lives peacefully, raise families, and conduct their businesses.’”

Rockville Nights this week reported that, “Former Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler picked up another round of endorsements in the Democratic race for Maryland governor on Thursday. Underlining his campaign theme of ‘bringing crime down and bringing justice up,’ Gansler was joined by eight current and former State’s Attorneys from across Maryland for a press conference to receive their endorsement of his campaign in a crowded Democratic field.”
