More Than 40 Current and Former Attorneys General Endorse Doug Gansler for Governor

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. – Former Attorney General Doug Gansler and former Hyattsville Mayor Candace Hollingsworth today announced that 41 current and former attorneys general have endorsed their campaign for governor and lieutenant governor of Maryland:

“As a former prosecutor and as the current Attorney General of Delaware, I know the number one job of government is to keep people safe, and that’s why I’m endorsing Doug Gansler for governor,” said Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings. “With violent crime on the rise, states need leaders who know what it takes to build safe, thriving communities. I know Doug will make public safety his top priority because I have seen him do it at every juncture. He has prosecuted hundreds of homicides and sexual assaults, and he led Montgomery County to become the first jurisdiction in the nation to successfully implement community prosecution. But Doug understands that keeping people safe requires more than just fighting crime. Keeping people safe means building strong communities, and Doug and Candace are the unparalleled ticket to do just that.”

“The Attorney General is both the people’s lawyer and the state’s top cop, and I’m honored to be endorsed by 41 AG’s who know me and have confidence in my ability to make Maryland safe,” said Gansler. “I have worked shoulder to shoulder with these women and men to fight crime, corporate polluters, and big banks. As governor, our administration will work with our neighbors in other states to take on climate change, protect our bay, and most importantly to stop the trafficking of illegal guns across state lines. Candace and I are ready to hit the ground running on Day One to make sure our communities are both just and safe, and we will work in close partnership with other state leaders to bring crime down for everyone.”
